Poetry In You Contest, Summer Poetry Seminars to Be Held at Birmingham Public Library
Roderick Woods has been hosting free Poetry In You workshops at various Birmingham Public Library locations and city schools for 14 years. In addition to several free poetry workshops being offered at three area libraries this summer, on July 23, Woods will be hosting the first Poetry In You Contest at the North Birmingham Regional Branch Library. The winners will receive $1,000 in cash, gifts, and prizes.

On Your Mark, Get Set...Use the Force!
Eastwood Branch Library, May 26, 11:00 a.m.
The Summer Reading Kick Off event at the Eastwood Library will have a Star Wars theme—there will be some major figures from the Star Wars universe on hand as well as Jedi training for the young attendees. There will also be icy treats from the planet Hoth and other light refreshments.

Coffee, Conversation, and Crafts
Springville Road Regional Branch Library, May 23, 11:00 a.m.
A gathering of folks who want to meet new people, learn fun crafts, enjoy light refreshments, and feel like a part of the community. It is the happening place to be. All adults welcome and all instruction, materials, and refreshments are free!

Active Living @ Your Library
Five Points West Regional Branch Library, May 25, 10:30 a.m.
The Active Living group will enjoy Sentimental Journey, The Restoration of the Lyric Theatre presented by Virginia Jones. Target audience: seniors.

If you are just learning how to crochet or need a refresher course, join in and learn all the basic techniques of crochet and have fun while you learn.

Body Changing
Springville Road Regional Branch Library, May 22, 4:00 p.m.
Provides informal support in reaching healthy weight goals. Nutritional and exercise information is available, but no specific diet or plan is preferred. Provides a forum for discussion of common obstacles, healthy recipes, encouragement, and successful tips.
